Curlformer Head!

This morning I woke up to a tight, compressed FRO! I am still not 100% comfortable with wearing my hear that way quite yet. So, in the meantime I like to wear stretched styles.

Curlformer Head!

So, I decided to dampen my hair with my homemade spritz/leave-in/pH balancer/(you get the idea) and slap some curlformers in my head. It's been a few hours and they are still damp. I will give them another few hours and decide whether or not to blow-dry them the rest of the way. A girl's got things to do!

Method:

  1. Lightly spritz hair. I use my own concoction. Any watery product will do.
  2. Detangle a section of hair and place it in a curlformer. I purposefully use larger sections and smaller curlformers when doing a damp set. Damp sets naturally produce looser results. For that reason I like to stuff as much hair as possible into the smallest curlformers to get  compact, loose curls in the end.
  3. Repeat until all of the hair is curlformed. Take a little extra time and effort to properly detanle and smooth each section. It will make a difference in the end.
  4. Let hair dry. I prefer to air dry my hair. For me, I find it takes my hair 3-4 hours to dry when damp setting, 6-8 when completely wet. The size and thickness of the section do make a difference. To speed up the process heat and/or air flow can be used.
  5. Take out the curlformers. Only remove once the hair is completely dry. Not a second before!
  6. Style. Personally, I cannot simply take out eh curlformers and just go. I like to pull them apart and fluff. Sometimes I will certain section down to create different looks. I usually finish off my curlformer set with a headband or folded scarf to solidify the style.

I will post a picture of my results later. Happy curlforming!
